Referred to as the &#8220;<strong>pearls of the Adriatic<\/strong>&#8221; because of their enchanting and unspoiled beauty, the islands, which have become a marine nature reserve since 1989, are a <strong>destination for bathers attracted by the clarity of the waters and the wonderful landscape<\/strong>. Inhabited as early as the 4th-3rd centuries B.C., the islands were called Insulae Diomedeae in honor of the hero Diomedes, who, according to legend, threw into the sea three gigantic boulders brought with him from Troy that later mysteriously reemerged in the form of islands.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"318\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hotelcirillo.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/ISOLE-TREMITI41.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-783\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hotelcirillo.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/ISOLE-TREMITI41-200x106.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.hotelcirillo.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/ISOLE-TREMITI41-300x159.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hotelcirillo.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/ISOLE-TREMITI41-400x212.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.hotelcirillo.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/ISOLE-TREMITI41.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The archipelago, which has been awarded the<strong> Blue Flag<\/strong> several times for the quality of its bathing waters, is a small piece of paradise consisting of <strong>three main islands<\/strong>, the<strong>small island of Crepaccio<\/strong>, and a myriad of islets and reefs. The three main islands are: <strong>San Nicola<\/strong>, the smallest but historically the most important of the Tremiti, where among other things you can admire the Abbey of S.
